Inspiration Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EEFF

At the golden gate of songA
Stood I knocking all day longA
But the Angel calm and coldB
Still refused and bade me HoldB
-
Then a breath of soft perfumeC
Then a light within the gloomC
Thou Love camest to my sideD
And the gates flew open wideD
-
Long I dwelt in this domainE
Knew no sorrow grief or painE
Now you bid me forth and freeF
Will you shut these gates on meF
