In August Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AAAA BBBB CCCC DDDD EEEE AAAA

When August days are hot an' dryA
When burning copper is the skyA
I 'd rather fish than feast or flyA
In airy realms serene and highA
-
I 'd take a suit not made for looksB
Some easily digested booksB
Some flies some lines some bait some hooksB
Then would I seek the bays and brooksB
-
I would eschew mine every taskC
In Nature's smiles my soul should baskC
And I methinks no more could askC
Except perhaps one little flaskC
-
In case of accident you knowD
Or should the wind come on to blowD
Or I be chilled or capsized soD
A flask would be the only goD
-
Then could I spend a happy timeE
A bit of sport a bit of rhymeE
A bit of lemon or of limeE
To make my bottle's contents primeE
-
When August days are hot an' dryA
I won't sit by an' sigh or dieA
I 'll get my bottle on the slyA
And go ahead and fish and lieA
