When burning copper is the sky | A |

In airy realms serene and high | A |

I 'd take a suit not made for looks | B |
Some easily digested books | B |
Some flies some lines some bait some hooks | B |
Then would I seek the bays and brooks | B |
- | |
I would eschew mine every task | C |
In Nature's smiles my soul should bask | C |
And I methinks no more could ask | C |
Except perhaps one little flask | C |
- | |
In case of accident you know | D |
Or should the wind come on to blow | D |
Or I be chilled or capsized so | D |
A flask would be the only go | D |
- | |
Then could I spend a happy time | E |
A bit of sport a bit of rhyme | E |
A bit of lemon or of lime | E |
To make my bottle's contents prime | E |

When August days are hot an' dry | A |
I won't sit by an' sigh or die | A |
I 'll get my bottle on the sly | A |
And go ahead and fish and lie | A |
