If I Could But Forget Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBCCDADAAEEEEFAFAAE EGGHAHA

If I could but forgetA
The fullness of those first sweet daysB
When you burst sun like thro' the hazeB
Of unacquaintance on my sightC
And made the wet gray day seem brightC
While clouds themselves grew fair to seeD
And since no day is gray or wetA
But all the scene comes back to meD
If I could but forgetA
If I could but forgetA
How your dusk eyes look into mineE
And how I thrilled as with strong wineE
Beneath your touch while sped amainE
The quickened stream thro' ev'ry veinE
How near my breath fell to a gaspF
When for a space our fingers metA
In one electric vibrant claspF
If I could but forgetA
If I could but forgetA
The months of passion and of painE
And all that followed in their trainE
Rebellious thoughts that would ariseG
Rebellious tears that dimmed mine eyesG
The prayers that I might set love's fireH
Aflame within your bosom yetA
The death at last of that desireH
If I could but forgetA
