Disappointed Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDD EFEFGG HEHEIJ

An old man planted and dug and tendedA
Toiling in joy from dew to dewB
The sun was kind and the rain befriendedC
Fine grew his orchard and fair to viewB
Then he said I will quiet my thrifty fearsD
For here is fruit for my failing yearsD
-
But even then the storm clouds gatheredE
Swallowing up the azure skyF
The sweeping winds into white foam latheredE
The placid breast of the bay hard byF
Then the spirits that raged in the darkened airG
Swept o'er his orchard and left it bareG
-
The old man stood in the rain uncaringH
Viewing the place the storm had sweptE
And then with a cry from his soul despairingH
He bowed him down to the earth and weptE
But a voice cried aloud from the driving rainI
Arise old man and plant againJ
