Dirge Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AAAAAAA BCBCAAA DEDEFFF AAAAEEA GAGAHHI JKJKLLM

Place this bunch of mignonetteA
In her cold dead handA
When the golden sun is setA
Where the poplars standA
Bury her from sun and dayA
Lay my little love awayA
From my sightA
-
She was like a modest flowerB
Blown in sunny JuneC
Warm as sun at noon's high hourB
Chaster than the moonC
Ah her day was brief and brightA
Earth has lost a star of lightA
She is deadA
-
Softly breathe her name to meD
Ah I loved her soE
Gentle let your tribute beD
None may better knowE
Her true worth than I who weepF
O'er her as she lies asleepF
Soft asleepF
-
Lay these lilies on her breastA
They are not more whiteA
Than the soul of her at restA
'Neath their petals brightA
Chant your aves soft and lowE
Solemn be your tread and slowE
She is deadA
-
Lay her here beneath the grassG
Cool and green and sweetA
Where the gentle brook may passG
Crooning at her feetA
Nature's bards shall come and singH
And the fairest flowers shall springH
Where she liesI
-
Safe above the water's swirlJ
She has crossed the barK
Earth has lost a precious pearlJ
Heaven has gained a starK
That shall ever sing and shineL
Till it quells this grief of mineL
For my loveM
