Dead Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEE FFGG

A knock is at her door but she is weakA
Strange dews have washed the paint streaks from her cheekA
She does not rise but ah this friend is knownB
And knows that he will find her all aloneB
So opens he the door and with soft treadC
Goes straightway to the richly curtained bedC
His soft hand on her dewy head he laysD
A strange white light she gives him for his gazeD
Then looking on the glory of her charmsE
He crushes her resistless in his armsE
-
Stand back look not upon this bold embraceF
Nor view the calmness of the wanton's faceF
With joy unspeakable and 'bated breathG
She keeps her last long liaison with deathG
