Christmas In The Heart Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDD EEFFBGHH IIJJKKLL DDBBMMNN

The snow lies deep upon the groundA
And winter's brightness all aroundA
Decks bravely out the forest sereB
With jewels of the brave old yearB
The coasting crowd upon the hillC
With some new spirit seems to thrillC
And all the temple bells achimeD
Ring out the glee of Christmas timeD
-
In happy homes the brown oak boughE
Vies with the red gemmed holly nowE
And here and there like pearls there showF
The berries of the mistletoeF
A sprig upon the chandelierB
Says to the maidens Come not hereG
Even the pauper of the earthH
Some kindly gift has cheered to mirthH
-
Within his chamber dim and coldI
There sits a grasping miser oldI
He has no thought save one of gainJ
To grind and gather and grasp and drainJ
A peal of bells a merry shoutK
Assail his ear he gazes outK
Upon a world to him all grayL
And snarls Why this is Christmas DayL
-
No man of ice for shame for shameD
For Christmas Day is no mere nameD
No not for you this ringing cheerB
This festal season of the yearB
And not for you the chime of bellsM
From holy temple rolls and swellsM
In day and deed he has no partN
Who holds not Christmas in his heartN
