Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDD EFGGHHII AAJJKKGG LLKBMMKK NNGGOOGG PPGGOOQL

Home agin an' home to stayA
Yes it's nice to be awayA
Plenty things to do an' seeB
But the old place seems to meB
Jest about the proper thingC
Mebbe 'ts 'cause the mem'ries clingC
Closer 'round yore place o' birthD
'N ary other spot on earthD
-
W'y it's nice jest settin' hereE
Lookin' out an' seein' clearF
'Thout no smoke ner dust ner hazeG
In these sweet October daysG
What's as good as that there laneH
Kind o' browned from last night's rainH
'Pears like home has got the startI
When the goal's a feller's heartI
-
What's as good as that there jayA
Screechin' up'ards towards the grayA
Skies An' tell me what's as fineJ
As that full leafed pumpkin vineJ
Tow'rin' buildin's yes they're goodK
But in sight o' field and woodK
Then a feller understan'sG
'Bout the house not made with han'sG
-
Let the others rant an' roamL
When they git away from homeL
Jest gi' me my old setteeK
An' my pipe beneath a treeB
Sight o' medders green an' stillM
Now and then a gentle hillM
Apple orchards full o' fruitK
Nigh a cider press to bootK
-
That's the thing jest done up brownN
D'want to be too nigh to townN
Want to have the smells an' sightsG
An' the dreams o' long still nightsG
With the friends you used to knowO
In the keerless long agoO
Same old cronies same old folksG
Same old cider same old jokesG
-
Say it's nice a gittin' backP
When yore pulse is growin' slackP
An' yore breath begins to wheezeG
Like a fair set valley breezeG
Kind o' nice to set aroun'O
On the old familiar groun'O
Knowin' that when Death does comeQ
That he'll find you right at homeL
