An Old Memory Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DECE FGCG HIHI JKLK CMCM NKOK PQKQ RICS TUKU

How sweet the music soundedA
That summer long agoB
When you were by my side loveC
To list its gentle flowB
-
I saw your eyes a shiningD
I felt your rippling hairE
I kissed your pearly cheek loveC
And had no thought of careE
-
And gay or sad the musicF
With subtle charm repleteG
I found in after years loveC
'Twas you that made it sweetG
-
For standing where we heard itH
I hear again the strainI
It wakes my heart but thrills itH
With sad mysterious painI
-
It pulses not so joyousJ
As when you stood with meK
And hand in hand we listenedL
To that low melodyK
-
Oh could the years turn back loveC
Oh could events be changedM
To what they were that time loveC
Before we were estrangedM
-
Wert thou once more a maidenN
Whose smile was gold to meK
Were I once more the loverO
Whose word was life to theeK
-
O God could all be alteredP
The pain the grief the strifeQ
And wert thou as thou shouldst beK
My true and loyal wifeQ
-
But all my tears are idleR
And all my wishes vainI
What once you were to me loveC
You may not be againS
-
For I alas like othersT
Have missed my dearest aimU
I asked for love Oh mockeryK
Fate comes to me with fameU
