A Roadway Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBAABB

Let those who will stride on their barren roadsA
And prick themselves to haste with self made goadsA
Unheeding as they struggle day by dayB
If flowers be sweet or skies be blue or grayB
For me the lone cool way by purling brooksA
The solemn quiet of the woodland nooksA
A song bird somewhere trilling sadly gayB
A pause to pick a flower beside the wayB

Paul Laurence Dunbar
