We have long sailed on different waves | B |
Of life s turbulent sea | C |
And the clouds of memory have grown even dimmer | D |
Our sacks hold frail hopes and impotent dreams | E |
Distance manures the wilderness of forgetting | F |
Absence shakes the precipice of remembering | F |

I will recognize your face when I see | C |
A green zebra galloping through a wildfire | D |
Claws of hunger and talons of hate tattooed | G |
On the defiant gallery of its skin | H |
Their ruthless artistry | C |

I will recognize the glow of the crested torch | I |
Etched in your soul before it dressed your vest | J |
These rampaging memories like spade | K |
Shall dig the mind's profound grave | L |
- | |
How could I forget slashing machete patterns | M |
That you carry like kangaroo pouch | N |
Your back was worked by a sleeping Michelangelo | O |
To a canvas of riots confusion and defiant obscenities | P |
From a mad prehistoric prophet | Q |

Nor will the fallen the lost and the maimed | R |
Lose their seats in the illimitable chambers of my soul | S |
They too carry the wounded flag of our national epiphany | C |
They too hold the bold undying emblem of our inseparable bond | T |
