The Tide Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBBCBCB BDBDEBFB BGBHBABA BHHHHHHH

Landward the tide setteth buoyantly breezilyA
Landward the waves ripple sparkling and freeB
Ho the proud ship like a thing of life easilyB
Gracefully sweeps o'er the white crested seaB
In from the far away lands she is steering nowC
Straight for her anchorage fearless and freeB
Lo as I gaze how she seems to be nearing nowC
Sun lighted shores a still haven and meB
-
Landward the tide setteth mark my proud argosyB
As the breeze flutters her pennons of snowD
Wafting from far the glad mariner's melodyB
O'er the blue waters in rhythmical flowD
Tell me oh soul of mine what is the freightage fairE
'Neath her white wings that she beareth to theeB
Treasures of golden ore gems from Golconda's shoreF
Lo she is bringing me over the seaB
-
-
-
Seaward the tide setteth hoarsely and heavilyB
Seaward the tide setteth steady and sternG
Oh my proud ship she has missed the still haven seeB
Baffled and drifting far out she is borneH
Far from the shore and the weak arms that helplesslyB
Wildly are stretched toward the lessening sailA
Far far from shore and the white hands that hopelesslyB
Flutter in vain in the loud shrieking galeA
-
Seaward the tide setteth oh my rich argosyB
Freighted with treasures ungrasped and unwonH
Oh the dark rocks the dread crash the fierce agonyH
And seaward more madly the tide rushes onH
Gems and red gold won from Earth's richest treasuryH
Straw the dark floor of the pitiless seaH
Buried for aye and my wealth freighted argosyH
Fades like the mist from the ocean and meH
