Led by the hand of Hope she came | B |
The beautiful Angel of Liberty | A |
When the sky was red with the sunset's flame | B |
Came to a rocky and surf beat shore | C |
Lone and wintry and stern and wild | D |
The waves behind her and wastes before | C |
And the Angel of Liberty pausing smiled | D |
- | |
Here O Sister shall be our rest | E |
Softly she sang and the waters shone | F |
While a mellower radiance flushed the west | E |
Lingering mountain and vale upon | G |
Sweetly the murmurous melody blent | E |
With flow of rivers and woodland song | H |
And wandering breezes that singing went | E |
Joyously wafted the notes along | H |
- | |
Acadia lifted her mist wreathed brow | I |
Westerly gazing with eager eye | J |
And lakes that sat in the sunset glow | K |
Flashed back upon her in glad reply | J |
On with every murmuring stream | L |
On with every wandering breeze | M |
Floated the strain through the New World's dream | L |
Till it died on the far Pacific seas | M |

Many a season came and went | E |
Many a changeful year sped by | J |
Many a forest its proud head bent | E |
Many a valley looked up to the sky | J |

Art Invention Science Skill | O |
Each for each 'neath those northern skies | N |

Learning gathered around her feet | E |
Listening crowds of aspiring youth | R |
Meek Religion with accents sweet | E |

Countless church spires pierced the skies | N |
Countless temples of Science wooed | E |
To thought's arena of high emprise | N |
An eager emulous multitude | E |

White sails dotted the waters blue | S |
Hamlets smiled amid valleys green | T |
Populous cities sprang and grew | S |
Where swamp and wilderness erst were seen | T |
Fleet as the tempest the iron steed | E |
Shook the hills with his thunderous tread | E |
From shore to shore with the lightning's speed | E |
Couriers electric man's errands sped | E |
- | |
Then kindred States that had stood apart | E |
Stretched to each other fraternal hands | U |
And each to all with a loyal heart | E |
Bound themselves with enduring bands | U |
Then the Angel of Liberty smiled once more | C |
Softly singing O Lands well done | V |
And the strains were wafted from shore to shore | C |
To the far off climes of the setting sun | V |
- | |
Here O Sister shall be our rest | E |
Again the beautiful Angel sung | W |
Long oh long shall these climes be blessed | E |
Free and fetterless brave and young | W |
If only loyal to Him who reigns | X |
Over all nations the Lord Most High | J |
Monarch of Heaven's serene domains | X |
Ruler of all things below the sky | J |

Worship Him ever in love and truth | R |
So shall ye still as the glad years rise | N |
Ever more stable and glorious be | A |
Heir of all loftiest destinies | M |
