Rhyme Scheme: ABABCCDEED ABABFFGHHG ABABHHIAAA ABABAAJKKL

Up from the spirit depths ringingA
Softly your melody swellsB
Sweet as a seraphim's singingA
Tender toned memory bellsB
The laughter of childhoodC
The song of the wildwoodC
The tinkle of streams through the echoing dellD
The voice of a motherE
The shout of a brotherE
Up from life's morning melodiously swellD
-
Up from the spirit depths ringingA
Richly your melody swellsB
Sweet reminiscences bringingA
Joyous toned memory bellsB
Youth's beautiful bowersF
Her dew spangled flowersF
The pictures which Hope of futurity drewG
Love's rapturous visionH
Of regions ElysianH
In glowing perspective unfolding to viewG
-
Up from the spirit depths ringingA
Sadly your melody swellsB
Tears with its mournful tones bringingA
Sorrowful memory bellsB
The first heart link brokenH
The first farewell spokenH
The first flow'ret crushed in life's desolate trackI
The agonized yearningA
O'er joys unreturningA
All all with your low wailing music come backA
-
Up from the spirit depths ringingA
Dirge like your melody swellsB
But Hope wipes the tears that are springingA
Mournful toned memory bellsB
Above your deep knellingA
Her soft voice is swellingA
Sweeter than angel tones silvery clearJ
Singing in Heaven aboveK
All is unchanging loveK
Mourner look upward thy home is not hereL
