Rhyme Scheme: A BCDCEFEF GHIHAJKJ JFBFEJEJ LMNOIELE GHIHJPBP

Work to day in my vineyardA
-
-
Hast thou then been called to laborB
In the vineyard of thy LordC
With the promise that if faithfulD
Thou shall win a sure rewardC
Look the tireless sun is hastingE
Toward the zenith and the dayF
Which in vanity thou'rt wastingE
Speedeth rapidly awayF
-
Lo the field is white for harvestG
And the laborers are fewH
Canst thou then oh slothful servantI
Find no work that thou canst doH
Sitting idle in the vineyardA
Sleeping while the noon day fliesJ
Dreaming while with every pulse beatK
Some unsaved one droops and diesJ
-
Waken overburdened lab'rersJ
Fainting in the sultry rayF
Cry against thee to the MasterB
As thou dream'st the hours awayF
Waken patient angels bearingE
Home Earth's harvest grieving seeJ
One by one the bright hours waningE
And no sheaf secured by theeJ
-
And at last when toil is endedL
And the blessed Harvest homeM
By exulting angels chantedN
Cheers the lab'rers as they comeO
What wilt thou do slothful servantI
With no gathered sheaf to bringE
How canst thou stand empty handedL
In the presence of thy KingE
-
Lo the field is white for harvestG
And the laborers are fewH
Canst thou then oh slothful servantI
Find no work that thou canst doH
Angels wait to bear the tidingsJ
Of some good that thou hast doneP
Then to patient earnest laborB
Waken ere the set of sunP
