He Hath Done All Things Well Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCBCDEFE GHGHIJKJ LHLHMJMJ NONOBPBP

AFFECTIONATELY INSCRIBED TO A DEAR FRIEND ON THE DEATH OF A BELOVED FATHERA
-
-
The dawn light wakes and brightens to the dayB
And the slow sun climbs the far eastern skiesC
Then down the western slopes pursues his wayB
Till shadows deepen and the twilight diesC
And still I muse and wait and list in vainD
For feet that never never will returnE
For loving words I may not hear againF
Howe'er with ear attent I wait and yearnE
-
O love that never wavered never changedG
How shall I miss thee as the years go byH
O tenderest heart that could be estrangedG
O fount that age and suffring could not dryH
O guiding hand to earliest thought endearedI
O hand that after clung so long to meJ
O patient Father honored loved reveredK
How shall I hear life's burden wanting theeJ
-
Be still fond heart another Father thineL
Both his and thine still on thee bends His eyeH
Thou canst not walk alone for Love DivineL
Unseen yet near each starting tear will dryH
Lean on the strong true breast of Love more deepM
More constant far than earthly love may beJ
Who gently soothed his pain and gave him sleepM
And shall enfold uplift and comfort theeJ
-
So lay thy burden in His hands and restN
Thy Lord hath fathomed every earthly woeO
With patient feet Earth's thorniest pathway pressedN
And left the tomb with Heaven's light aglowO
For what them seest not now some other dayB
In lands unreached by sorrow's dreary knellP
Thou in His light shalt read and meekly sayB
E'en so dear Lord Thou hast done all things wellP
