Eloise EloiseA
It is morn on the seasB
And the waters are curling and flashingC
And our rock sheltered seatD
Where the waves ever beatD
With a cadenced and rhythmical dashingC
Is here just hereE
But I miss thee dearF
And the sun beams around me are flashingC
O seat by the lonely seaG
O seat that she shared with meG
Thou art all unfilled to dayH
And the plaintive grieving mainI
Hath a moan of hopeless painI
That it had not yesterdayH
-
Eloise EloiseA
It is noon and the breezeB
Through the shadowy woodland is strayingC
And our green mossy seatD
Where the flowers kissed thy feetD
While the zephyrs around thee were playingC
Is here just hereE
But I miss thee dearF
And the breezes around me are strayingC
O seat by the greenwood treeG
O seat that she shared with meG
Thou art all unfilled to dayH
And the sighing shivering leavesJ
Have a voice like one that grievesJ
That they had not yesterdayH
-
Eloise EloiseA
It is eve and the treesB
With the gold of the sunset are glowingC
And our low grassy seatD
With the brook at its feetD
Ever singing and rippling and flowingC
Is here just hereE
But I miss thee dearF
And the sunset is over me glowingC
O seat by the brooklet freeG
O seat that she shared with meG
Thou art all unfilled to dayH
And the brook to me aloneK
Hath a tender grieving toneK
That it had not yesterdayH
-
Eloise EloiseA
It is night on the seasB
And the winds and the waters are sleepingC
And the seat where we prayedL
'Neath our home's blessed shadeL
With the soft shadows over us creepingC
Is here just hereE
But I miss thee dearF
And the drear night around me is sleepingC
O seat where she prayed of yoreM
O seat where she prays no moreM
I am kneeling alone to nightN
And the stern unyielding graveO
Will restore not the gift I gaveO
To its bosom yesternightN
