Brethren, Go! A Valediction Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAC DCDC EFEF AGAG HIHI

Brethren go the day is bright'ningA
As the sultry noon steals onB
And the fields already whit'ningA
Tell of labor to be doneC
-
There are toilsome days before youD
Burdens that you may not shunC
Clouds will gather darkly o'er youD
Reeds will fail you one by oneC
-
Yet go forth to strong endeavorE
'Neath the shadow of the crossF
He who calls will leave you neverE
Never let you suffer lossF
-
Go the voices of the dyingA
Float on every passing breezeG
Tones of wild imploring cryingA
Come from lands beyond the seasG
-
Go where pain and sorrow languishH
Go where Sin works strife and woeI
Cleanse Earth's stain and heal her anguishH
Jesus calls you brethren goI
