Beyond The Shadows Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFE FGFGHHHH IHJHHFHF AFHFHFHF HKAKHLAE

Thou hast entered the land without shadowsA
Thou who 'neath the shadow so longB
Hast sat with thy white hands close foldedC
And lips that could utter no songB
Through a rift in the cloud for an instantD
Thine eyes caught a glimpse of that shoreE
And Earth with its gloom was forgottenF
And Heaven is thine own evermoreE
-
We see not the glorious visionF
Nor the welcoming melodies hearG
That from bowers of beauty ElysianF
Float tenderly sweet to thine earG
Round us lie Earth's desolate midnightH
Her winter plains bare and untrodH
Round thee is the glad morning sunlightH
That beams from the City of GodH
-
Our eyes have grown heavy with weepingI
Thine the King in his beauty beholdH
And thou leanest thy head on His bosomJ
Like him the beloved of oldH
The days of thy weeping are endedH
Thy sorrow and suffering doneF
And angels thy flight have attendedH
To the side of the Crucified OneF
-
On thy hearth stone the ashes are firelessA
In thy dark home the lights never burnF
In thy garden the sweet flowers have perishedH
To thy bower no song birds returnF
Yet a mansion of bliss glory lightedH
Where anguish and death are unknownF
Where beauty and bloom are unblightedH
Henceforth is forever thine ownF
-
Oh joy for thee glorified spiritH
With Jesus forever to beK
And with sinless and sainted companionsA
The bliss of His Paradise seeK
Joy joy for thy warfare is finishedH
Thy perilous journeying o'erL
And above the deep gloom of Earth's shadowsA
Thou art dwelling in Light evermoreE
