Be Still Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDCEB FGHIHJG AKLMLMK

O throbbing heart be stillA
Canst thou not bearB
The heavy dash of Memory's troubled tideC
Long sternly pent but broken forth againD
Sweeping all barriers ruthlessly asideC
And leaving desolation in its trainE
Where all was fairB
-
Fair did I say Oh yesF
I'd reared sweet flowersG
Of steadfast hope and quiet patient trustH
Above the wreck and ruin of my yearsI
Had won a plant of beauty from the dustH
Fanned it with breath of prayer and wet with tearsJ
Of loneliest hoursG
-
O throbbing heart be stillA
That cherished flowerK
Faith in thy God last grown yet first in worthL
Will spring anew ere long it is not deadM
'Tis only beaten to the breast of earthL
Let the storm rage be calm 'twill lift its headM
Some stiller hourK
