The Woman Of The Mountain Keens Her Son Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCD DEEF GHIJ KFLH MHKE

Grief on the death it has blackened my heartA
It has snatched my low and left me desolateB
Without friend or companion under the roof of my houseC
But this sorrow in the midst of me and I keeningD
-
As I walked the mountain in the eveningD
The birds spoke to me sorrowfullyE
The sweet snipe spoke and the voiceless curlewE
Relating to me that my darling was deadF
-
I called to you and your voice I heard notG
I called again and I got no answerH
I kissed your mouth and O God how cold it wasI
Ah cold is your bed in the lonely churchyardJ
-
O green sodded grave in which my child isK
Little narrow grave since you are his bedF
My blessing on you and thousands of blessingsL
On the green sods that are over my treasureH
-
Grief on the death it cannot be deniedM
It lays low green and withered togetherH
And O gentle little son what tortures me isK
That your fair body should be making clayE
