Untitled 7 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD CECEFGFG AHAHABAB

Fame surrounds us with a gloryA
Dazzling as the noon day sunB
And upon the page of storyA
Blazons deeds of greatness doneB
But 'tis love that sheds a brightnessC
Round us that can ne'er departD
And with its own gentle lightnessC
Writes its records on the heartD
-
Fame may stir the soul within usC
Half with pleasure half with painE
And a world's applause may win usC
With its many echoed strainE
But the song of love's own singingF
Though 'tis breathed by one aloneG
Ever to the heart is bringingF
New born raptures in its toneG
-
Give to me one fair form near meA
And I'll sigh no more for fameH
Better one sweet voice to cheer meA
Than the heartless crowd's acclaimH
Of fame's gifts I ask not anyA
Its proud temples will I shunB
For the voices of the manyA
Give to me the heart of oneB
