Untitled 5 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCC DEDEFF GHGHII

An exile captive severed from his homeA
Torn from the friends he loved in life's sweet springB
Heart broken toils while still his sad thoughts roamA
Back to the past which now no joys can bringB
Vainly he seeks compassion and reliefC
In human hearts around to cheer or soothe his griefC
-
As hard the steel so hard the flinty rockD
Whose grating echoes jest but at his woeE
The quivering iron yields but to the shockD
While down his bosom's height the cold drops flowE
His bleeding hands show many a sanguine spotF
Though seen by human eyes by human hearts forgotF
-
There's not a sigh his spirit's grief hath spedG
There's not a dew drop wrung by tyrannyH
Nor yet one scorching tear his soul hath shedG
Nor bloody stain of silent agonyH
But God hath seen and hath recorded trueI
To render unto man according to his dueI
