Plea For Trigamy, A Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEG HFHF FFFF IJIJ EKEK FLFL EMEM JNJN

I've been trying to fashion a wifely idealA
And find that my tastes are so far from conciseB
That to marry completely no fewer than three'llA
SufficeB
-
I've subjected my views to severe atmosphericC
Compression but still in defiance of forceD
They distinctly fall under three heads like a clericC
DiscourseD
-
My first must be fashion's own fancy bred daughterE
Proud peerless and perfect in fact comme il fautF
A waltzer and wit of the very first waterE
For showG
-
But these beauties that serve to make all the men jealousH
Once face them alone in the family cotF
Heaven's angels incarnate the novelists tell usH
They're notF
-
But so much for appearances Now for my secondF
My lover the wife of my home and my heartF
Of all fortune and fate of my life to be reckon'dF
A partF
-
She must know all the needs of a rational beingI
Be skilled to keep counsel to comfort to coaxJ
And above all things else be accomplished at seeingI
My jokesJ
-
I complete the m nage by including the otherE
With all the domestic prestige of a henK
As my housekeeper nurse or it may be a motherE
Of menK
-
Total three and the virtues all well representedF
With fewer than this such a thing can't be doneL
Though I've known married men who declare they're contentedF
With oneL
-
Would you hunt during harvest or hay make in winterE
And how can one woman expect to combineM
Certain qualifications essentially interE
necineM
-
You may say that my prospects are legally sunlessJ
I state that I find them as clear as can beN
I will marry no wife since I can't do with one lessJ
Than threeN
