Tristitiae Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCCB DEFD GHHG

Greek text which cannot be reproducedA
-
O well for him who lives at easeB
With garnered gold in wide domainC
Nor heeds the splashing of the rainC
The crashing down of forest treesB
-
O well for him who ne'er hath knownD
The travail of the hungry yearsE
A father grey with grief and tearsF
A mother weeping all aloneD
-
But well for him whose foot hath trodG
The weary road of toil and strifeH
Yet from the sorrows of his lifeH
Builds ladders to be nearer GodG
