Easter Day Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCAADDAEFGGFHThe silver trumpets rang across the Dome | A |
The people knelt upon the ground with awe | B |
And borne upon the necks of men I saw | C |
Like some great God the Holy Lord of Rome | A |
Priest like he wore a robe more white than foam | A |
And king like swathed himself in royal red | D |
Three crowns of gold rose high upon his head | D |
In splendour and in light the Pope passed home | A |
My heart stole back across wide wastes of years | E |
To One who wandered by a lonely sea | F |
And sought in vain for any place of rest | G |
'Foxes have holes and every bird its nest | G |
I only I must wander wearily | F |
And bruise my feet and drink wine salt with tears ' | H |
