Tatarus Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABBBCCBB DDBBEEFF GGHHIIJJ BBIIGGKKWHILE in my simple gospel creed | A |
That 'God is Love' so plain I read | B |
Shall dreams of heathen birth affright | B |
My pathway through the coming night | B |
Ah Lord of life though spectres pale | C |
Fill with their threats the shadowy vale | C |
With Thee my faltering steps to aid | B |
How can I dare to be afraid | B |
- | |
Shall mouldering page or fading scroll | D |
Outface the charter of the soul | D |
Shall priesthood's palsied arm protect | B |
The wrong our human hearts reject | B |
And smite the lips whose shuddering cry | E |
Proclaims a cruel creed a lie | E |
The wizard's rope we disallow | F |
Was justice once is murder now | F |
- | |
Is there a world of blank despair | G |
And dwells the Omnipresent there | G |
Does He behold with smile serene | H |
The shows of that unending scene | H |
Where sleepless hopeless anguish lies | I |
And ever dying never dies | I |
Say does He hear the sufferer's groan | J |
And is that child of wrath his own | J |
- | |
O mortal wavering in thy trust | B |
Lift thy pale forehead from the dust | B |
The mists that cloud thy darkened eyes | I |
Fade ere they reach the o'erarching skies | I |
When the blind heralds of despair | G |
Would bid thee doubt a Father's care | G |
Look up from earth and read above | K |
On heaven's blue tablet GOD IS LOVE | K |
