William Dean Howells Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEFGG

Not squirrels in the park aloneA
His love and winter kindness ownA
When Literary Fledglings tryB
Their wings in first attempt to flyB
They flutter down to Franklin SquareC
Where Howells in his Easy ChairC
Like good Saint Francis scatters crumbsD
Of Hope to each small bird that comesD
And since Bread cast upon the mainE
Must to the giver come againF
I tender now long overtimeG
This humble Crumb of grateful rhymeG
