The trembling victim tribute pays | D |
Of song or measure mime or jest | E |
To soothe the savage Hydra's breast | E |
If she please not the monster's whim | F |
Wild scribes will tear her limb from limb | F |
Even if charmed he rend the air | G |
With hideous joy let her beware | G |
For she must surely soon or late | H |
