Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEFGGHHII

It chanced that Allah looking roundA
When he had made his creatures foundA
Half of an Eagle and a pairB
Of extra Lion legs to spareB
So hating waste he took some glueC
And made a Gryphon of the twoC
But when his handiwork he eyedD
He frowned and it was petrifiedD
Doomed for all time to representE
Impatience on a monumentF
Sometimes upon our path to dayG
Its living counterpart will strayG
Columbia's Eagle strutting inH
An awf'ly English Lion's skinH
With glass in eye and swagg'ring gaitI
Behold the Gryphon up to dateI
