In Darkest Africa Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EEDD FFGG HHII

At evening when the lamp is litA
The tired Human People sitA
And doze or turn with solemn looksB
The speckled pages of their booksB
-
Then I the Dangerous Kitten prowlC
And in the Shadows softly growlC
And roam about the farthest floorD
Where Kitten never trod beforeD
-
And crouching in the jungle dampE
I watch the Human Hunter's campE
Ready to spring with fearful roarD
As soon as I shall hear them snoreD
-
And then with stealthy tread I crawlF
Into the dark and trackless hallF
Where 'neath the Hat tree's shadows deepG
Umbrellas fold their wings and sleepG
-
A cuckoo calls and to their densH
The People climb like frightened hensH
And I'm alone and no one caresI
In Darkest Africa down stairsI
