To My Valentine Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EAEA DFDG EHEH EIEI

Adieu Adieu may angels guard theeA
Hovering near thee night and dayB
For all thy good deeds God reward theeA
The rest forgive and blot awayB
-
May no gift nor grace be missingC
May He all on thee conferD
And add a heartfelt prayer and blessingC
From the distant wandererD
-
O'er the trackless foaming oceanE
In weal or woe ever shall beA
Mingled in my heart's devotionE
Many a prayer for thine and theeA
-
What tho' across thy memory neverD
Shall flit my once familiar nameF
Hallowed by distance thine for everD
Memory shall conjure up againG
-
All thy follies ever hiddenE
All thy virtues raised aboveH
Thy name so long so much forbiddenE
Strangers shall learn from me to loveH
-
Adieu and may we meet in heavenE
Through Him the Lord who guides our waysI
And he to whom much was forgivenE
Shall swell the highest notes of praiseI
