I thank Thee Father that I feel Thee near | B |
That it is hand of Thine that s raised to smite | A |
Oh make Thy loving kindness to appear | B |
Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right | A |
- | |
Poor woe worn watchers he is going home | C |
No skill can save him and no love can keep | D |
He served his generation he is gone | E |
And gathered to his fathers falls asleep | D |
- | |
We've bitter cups to drain but his is dry | F |
Burdens of care but care has left his breast | A |
Tears but they never more shall dim his eye | F |
Labour but he has entered into rest | A |
- | |
Oh to be with him toil and care all past | A |
Sleeping dear mother earth within thy breast | A |
I too could lay my hand in thine O death | G |
And gladly enter where the weary rest | A |
