To A Fathers Memory Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BABA CDED FAFA AAGA

J M DA
-
-
I thank Thee Father that I feel Thee nearB
That it is hand of Thine that s raised to smiteA
Oh make Thy loving kindness to appearB
Shall not the Judge of all the earth do rightA
-
Poor woe worn watchers he is going homeC
No skill can save him and no love can keepD
He served his generation he is goneE
And gathered to his fathers falls asleepD
-
We've bitter cups to drain but his is dryF
Burdens of care but care has left his breastA
Tears but they never more shall dim his eyeF
Labour but he has entered into restA
-
Oh to be with him toil and care all pastA
Sleeping dear mother earth within thy breastA
I too could lay my hand in thine O deathG
And gladly enter where the weary restA
