Majority Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGI JKJK GLGL MNMN

So friend of mine 'tis thy birthday mornA
And friends with fair gifts around thee comeB
Outside the circle I stand forlornA
My hands are empty my lips are dumbB
-
O Thou who seest in secret stillC
Who reads the heart when no word is saidD
The wishes that rise in prayer fulfilC
In royal blessings to crown his headD
-
Entering the portals of manhood nowE
The boy we loved from our knowledge slipsF
With fresh consecration seal his browE
With thy altar fire retouch his lipsF
-
He girds himself for the strife anewG
And love foresees what the dangers areH
But thou O Captain art tried and trueG
'Tis at thy charge he goes forth to warI
-
My empty hands to thy throne I liftJ
While parting sorrow my spirit swellsK
Lord thou wilt give him a birthday giftJ
Out of the place where Thy fulness dwellsK
-
He's called and chosen to dare and doG
To uphold Thy banner on battle fieldL
Be Thou to him strength and wisdom tooG
In the day of strife his sword and shieldL
-
More than I ask Thou wilt give O KingM
What is my friendship or care to ThineN
To the banquet house Thy hand will bringM
And refresh his lips with the kingdom's wineN
