The Outer Gate Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBA CDECFE

Life said My house is thine with all its storeA
Behold I open shining ways to theeB
Of every inner portal make thee freeB
O child I may not bar the outer doorA
Go from me if thou wilt to come no moreA
But all thy pain is mine thy flesh of meB
And must I hear thee faint and woefullyB
Call on me from the darkness and imploreA
-
Nay mother for I follow at thy willC
But oftentimes thy voice is sharp to hearD
Thy trailing fragrance heavy on the breathE
Always the outer hall is very stillC
And on my face a pleasant wind and clearF
Blows straitly from the narrow gate of DeathE
