The Russian Soldier Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBCCDEFECGHGIJGK

Then up there comes a veteranA
With medals on his breastB
He scarcely lives but yet contrivesC
To drink with all the restB
'A lucky man am I ' he criesC
And thus to prove the fact he triesC
'In what consists of a soldier's luckD
Pray listen while I tellE
In twenty fights or more I've beenF
And yet I never fellE
And what is more in peaceful timesC
Full meal I never knewG
Yet all the same I have contrivedH
Not to give Death his dueG
Again for sins both great and smallI
Full many a time they've meJ
With canes unmercifully floggedG
Yet I'm alive you see 'K
