The Descendents Of Cain Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCA DEFD GGH BIH

He did not lie the ghost so sad and thoughtfulA
That from a star took his name by a chanceB
When he had said Don t fear the Lord to usC
Just try the fruit and be like Him immortalA
-
All routs for youths were opened in glowD
And all forbidden works for older onesE
And amber fruits for gaily girls at onceF
And the rhinoceros forever white as snowD
-
But why we lean bereft of any strengthG
And feel that someone has forgot all us at lengthG
And grasp the dread of the old lure if onlyH
-
By an easy hand of someone by a chanceB
Two little sticks flag s poles leaves of grassI
Will be united in the cross infirmlyH
