Nikki-rosa Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJKLMKHN KGFGJOPQRR KSTUFVWXRF

Childhood rememberances areA
always a drag if you're BlackB
you always remember things likeC
living in Woodlawn with no inside toiletD
and if you become famous or somethingE
They never talk about how happyF
you were to have your motherG
all to yourself and how good theH
water felt when you got your bathI
from one of thoseJ
Big tubs that folk in chicago barbequeK
in and somehow when you talkL
about homeM
it never gets across how much youK
understood their feelings as theH
whole family attended meetingsN
-
About Hollydale and even though youK
remember your biographers neverG
understand your father's pain as heF
sells his stock and anotherG
dream goesJ
And though your're poor it isn'tO
poverty that concerns you andP
though they fought a lotQ
it isn't your father's drinking thatR
makes any difference but only thatR
-
Everybody is together and youK
and your sister have happy birthdaysS
and very good Christmasses and IT
really hope no white person ever hasU
cause to write about meF
because they never understandV
Black love is Black wealth and they'llW
probably talk about my hard childhoodX
and never understand thatR
all the while I was quite happyF
