On A Picture Of Children Playing. By Fisher Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFE GCHCIJAJ KLMLBNON JPQPRBSB

I love to look on a scene like thisA
Of wild and careless playB
And persuade myself that I am not oldC
And my locks are not yet grayB
For it stirs the blood in old man's heartD
And makes his pulses flyE
To catch the thrill of a happy voiceF
And the light of a pleasant eyeE
-
I have walked the world for fourscore yearsG
And they say that I am oldC
That my heart is ripe for the reaper DeathH
And my years are well nigh toldC
It is very true it is very trueI
I'm old and 'I bide my time'J
But my heart will leap at a scene like thisA
And I half renew my primeJ
-
Play on play on I am with you thereK
In the midst of your merry ringL
I can feel the thrill of the daring jumpM
And the rush of the breathless swingL
I hide with you in the fragrant hayB
And I whoop the smothered callN
And my feet slip up on the seedy floorO
And I care not for the fallN
-
I am willing to die when my time shall comeJ
And I shall be glad to goP
For the world at best is a weary placeQ
And my pulse is getting lowP
But the grave is dark and the heart will failR
In treading its gloomy wayB
And it wiles my heart from its drearinessS
To see the young so gayB
