Claudio Know you any HeroA
Hero None my lord As You Like itB
-
-
Gentle and modest Hero I can seeC
Her delicate figure and her soft blue eyeD
Like a warm vision lovely as she stoodE
Veiled in the presence of young ClaudioA
Modesty bows her head and that young heartF
That would endure all suffering for the loveG
It hideth is as tremulous as the leafH
Forsaken of the Summer She hath flungI
Her all upon the venture of her vowJ
And in her trust leans meekly like a flowerK
By the still river tempted from its stemL
And on its bosom floatingM
Once againN
I see her and she standeth in her prideO
With her soft eye enkindled and her lipP
Curled with its sweet resentment like a lineQ
Of lifeless coral She hath heard the voiceR
That was her music utter it and stillS
To her affection faithful she hath turnedT
And questioned in her innocent unbeliefJ
Is my lord well that he should speak so wideO
How did they look upon that open browJ
And not read purity Alas for truthU
It hath so many counterfeits The wordsV
That to a child were written legiblyS
Are by the wise mistaken and when lightW
Hath made the brow transparent and the faceX
Is like an angel's virtue is so fairY
They read it like an over blotted leafJ
And break the heart that wrote itB
