And let him that is athirst come And whosoever will let him take the water of life freely RevelationA
-
-
I wandered down a mountain roadB
Past flower and rock and lichen grayC
Alone with nature and her GodD
Upon a flitting summer dayC
-
The forest skirted to the edgeE
Of Capon river Hampshire's gemF
Which bathing many a primrose ledgeE
Oft sparkled like a diademF
-
At length a silvery spring I spiedG
Gurgling through moss and fern alongH
Waiting to bless with cooling tideG
All who were gladdened by its songH
-
Oh who would pass with thirsting lipI
And burning brow this limpid waveJ
Who would not pause with joy and sipI
Its crystal depths who would not craveJ
-
This query woke a voice withinK
Why slight the spring of God's great loveL
That fount that cleanseth from all sinK
Our purchase paid by Christ aboveL
-
Whoever will may drink Oh whyM
Worn toilers in this earthly strifeN
Reject a mansion in the skyM
Reject heaven's bliss and endless lifeN
