Musings Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCBC BDBE FGFG BABA HIHI JAJA FKFK

Childhood and youth are vanityA
-
-
Often o'er life's pathway strayingB
Come sweet strains of long agoC
To the chords of memory playingB
Music sweet and music lowC
-
When upon the gray rock musingB
'Neath the tree by childhood's homeD
In the wild bird's note so soothingB
Tenderly these strains will comeE
-
Gazing on the deep fringed mountainF
Distance robing it in blueG
Quaffing the familiar fountainF
Each repeats the story tooG
-
Wandering by the streamlet flowingB
Where we played in hours of gleeA
Hear its murmurs coming goingB
Tell of joys that used to beA
-
Wandering in the leafy wildwoodH
Sometimes in our leisure hoursI
In the sunny days of childhoodH
How much fairer seemed its flowersI
-
Watching from the hill the sunsetJ
'Neath the spreading chestnut treeA
Youthful dreams and visions come yetJ
Through the years so magicallyA
-
Yet how vain these memories oldenF
If they do not teach the truthK
That within the city goldenF
Only dwells perpetual youthK
