Gone Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EAFA GAHA IJIJ KILI

Upon time's surging billowy seaA
A ship now slowly disappearsB
With freight no human eye can seeA
But weighing just one hundred yearsB
-
Their sighs their tears their weary moansC
Their joy and pleasure pomp and prideD
Their angry and their gentle tonesC
Beneath its waves forever hideD
-
Yes sunk within oblivion's wavesE
They'll partly live in memoryA
To youth who will their secrets craveF
Mostly exist in historyA
-
Ah what a truth steps in this strainG
They are not lost within time's seaA
Their words and actions live againH
And blight or light eternityA
-
A new ship comes within our viewI
Laden with dreams both sad and blestJ
To youth they're tinged with roseate hueI
To weary ones bring longed for restJ
-
And still the stream of life flows onK
Laughing beneath the century newI
God's promise gilds the horizonL
Mercy shall reign his word is trueI
