Lincoln Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCB DAEEA FGHHG IJKKJ

There was a boy of other daysA
A quiet awkward earnest ladB
Who trudged long weary miles to getC
A book on which his heart was setC
And then no candle hadB
-
He was too poor to buy a lampD
But very wise in woodmen's waysA
He gathered seasoned bough and stemE
And crisping leaf and kindled themE
Into a ruddy blazeA
-
Then as he lay full length and readF
The firelight flickered on his faceG
And etched his shadow on the gloomH
And made a picture in the roomH
In that most humble placeG
-
The hard years came the hard years wentI
But gentle brave and strong of willJ
He met them all And when todayK
We see his pictured face we sayK
There's light upon it stillJ
