Christmas Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHIH EJKJ LMNM OPQP

While shepherds watched their flocks by nightA
All seated on the groundB
The angel of the Lord came downC
And glory shone aroundB
-
Fear not said he for mighty dreadD
Had seized their troubled mindE
Glad tidings of great joy I bringF
To you and all mankindE
-
To you in David's town this dayG
Is born of David's lineH
The Saviour who is Christ the LordI
And this shall be the signH
-
The heavenly babe you there shall findE
To human view displayedJ
All meanly wrapped in swathing bandsK
And in a manger laidJ
-
Thus spake the seraph and forthwithL
Appeared a shining throngM
Of angels praising God and thusN
Addressed their joyful songM
-
All glory be to God on highO
And to the earth be peaceP
Good will henceforth from heaven to menQ
Begin and never ceaseP
