I wish we never metA
Us crossing paths was surely destinedB
But was it really the right timeC
-
I keep having these thoughtsD
Was it too earlyE
Or were we just not readyE
-
The chemistry was goodF
The experience was not all rocky eitherG
But we weren t grownH
-
That was too soonI
-
We had an ideaJ
An idea of what love wasK
But we couldn t shake off the fact thatL
We were just kidsM
-
That was too soonI
-
We did communicateN
That was what was needed of usO
But we are just humansP
Just kidsM
Misunderstandings were bound to ariseQ
-
I wish we never metA
That way we would ve remained strangersR
I wouldn t think of you this crazilyE
-
We are still growingS
Still not fully developedT
-
Real talkU
Couldn t we have just met after decadesV
Couldn t life have shaped us firstW
-
Instead it used us to shape each otherG
That was truly cruelX
-
Because now every lesson carries your nameY
Every silence somehow sounds like youZ
And every version of love I try to imagineA2
Ends up looking like what we almost becameY
-
Maybe we loved with wounded handsB2
Trying to hold something neither of usO
Fully understood yetA
-
Maybe that s why we broke so easilyE
Not because the love was fakeC2
But because we were fragileX
-
I hate that timing mattered this muchD2
I hate that growing sometimes meansE2
Outgrowing people you once prayed forF2
-
And stillG2
A part of me hopes life becomes kinderG
Kinder enough to let us meet againH2
As people who finally understand themselvesI2
-
Maybe thenH2
We would not love out of fearJ2
Or confusionA2
Or lonelinessO
-
Maybe thenH2
We would stop hurting each otherG
While trying to heal ourselvesI2
-
Until thenH2
I ll keep wonderingS
How something that felt so rightK2
Managed to arrive at the wrong timeC

Poet's note: The poem explores how genuine love can fail when two people meet before they have fully matured, suggesting that timing and personal growth are just as important as love itself.
