Song Iv Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCAADA AEFDGHI JAAKLMN ODAPQDL RDASTRU

Downcast midst vile sinsA
From my innermost heartB
I cry out God unboundedC
Hear the mournful plaintsA
Of my grievous voiceA
And in Thy compassionD
Lend an ear of mercyA
-
Wouldst Thou our evilsA
Weigh kind FatherE
On Thine own justice's scaleF
Who'd know such fortuneD
Who in virtues be so firmG
That coming for true judgmentH
Would not be condemnedI
-
But Thou gracious judgeJ
Punish not our erring waysA
With deserved severityA
Thy law with mercy filledK
And Thy faithful words O LordL
That wouldst pluck me from this illM
Inspire in me certain trustN
-
'Tis why whether roseal dawnO
Brings forth a beaming sunD
Or night arrayed in darkening cloudsA
In darkness doth lead onP
Let doubt not dissuadeQ
Those people so chosenD
From resolute trust in their LordL
-
For a treasure inexhaustibleR
Is His eternal compassionD
He'll idle not in healing woundsA
Or raising one who's stumbledS
He past all measure of doubtT
Shall forget not His own peopleR
And to salvation shall lead themU
