Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EFGH IJKD LBMN OPQR BSTC JUVW JJEJ

Why flatter thyself TyrantA
In ways great in evilB
The Lord's goodness ceases notC
Keeping watch on the piousD
-
Keener yet than the keenestE
Blade thy tongue watchesF
To generate wild untruthG
And plot slander' gainst the goodH
-
Evil's thy love not sacred virtuesI
A lier's thy love not a truthsayerJ
Thine own accursed eye in joyK
Gazes at treason most infectiousD
-
For this the Lord God shall flingL
Thee from the midst of His peopleB
Grinding thee to dust aye thy homeM
He'll rend asunder from the very earthN
-
Seeing this he who was wrongedO
Shall fear the power of the LordP
With the evil one swifty dispensedQ
In safety shall he rejoiceR
-
Saying So for him who in evilB
Lay his trust in power in clever deviceS
Who mocked those lamenting in plightT
Whilst his own God he'd forgotC
-
But I like unto an Olive treeJ
Grafted in the Lord's gardenU
Unfearing I'll blossom forthV
In my hope of heaven's defenceW
-
And unto everyone Lord TheeJ
Would I claim iniquity's slayerJ
And having in Thee my trustE
All manner of afflictions I'll bearJ
