Waiting For Death Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A ABBA ABBA CDE CDE

Di morte certoA
-
-
My death must come but when I do not knowA
Life's short and little life remains for meB
Fain would my flesh abide my soul would fleeB
Heavenward for still she calls on me to goA
-
Blind is the world and evil here belowA
O'erwhelms and triumphs over honestyB
The light is quenched quenched too is braveryB
Lies reign and truth hath ceased her face to showA
-
When will that day dawn Lord for which he waitsC
Who trusts in Thee Lo this prolonged delayD
Destroys all hope and robs the soul of lifeE
-
Why streams the light from those celestial gatesC
If death prevent the day of grace and stayD
Our souls for ever in the toils of strifeE
