To Giorgio Vasari. Vanity Of Vanities Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCCB BCCB DEF DEG

Le favole del mondoA
-
-
The fables of the world have filched awayB
The time I had for thinking upon GodC
His grace lies buried 'neath oblivion's sodC
Whence springs an evil crop of sins alwayB
-
What makes another wise leads me astrayB
Slow to discern the bad path I have trodC
Hope fades but still desire ascends that GodC
May free me from self love my sure decayB
-
Shorten half way my road to heaven from earthD
Dear Lord I cannot even half way riseE
Unless Thou help me on this pilgrimageF
-
Teach me to hate the world so little worthD
And all the lovely things I clasp and prizeE
That endless life ere death may be my wageG
